Custom Window Treatments Designed for Dallas Living

Beautiful window treatments do far more than frame a view. They influence the light, comfort, privacy, and character of every room. At SPRUCED, our designers create custom window treatment solutions that complement your interiors while responding to the practical demands of living in North Texas.

From intense summer sunshine and heat to privacy, glare, and energy efficiency, Dallas-area homes present their own unique considerations. Our design team will help you select the right combination of fabrics, materials, styles, and operating systems for your windows and your lifestyle. Whether your home calls for elegant custom drapery, tailored Roman shades, timeless shutters, natural woven woods, or sophisticated motorized treatments, every detail is carefully considered.

Because SPRUCED is a full-service interior design firm, we look beyond the window itself. Color, pattern, furnishings, architecture, lighting, and the way you use each room all influence our recommendations, resulting in window treatments that feel like an integral part of your home.

Custom Drapery

Few window treatments offer the versatility and transformative impact of custom drapery. From softly flowing panels to tailored designs with a more structured appearance, drapery introduces color, pattern, texture, and softness while beautifully framing your windows.

Our designers help you select fabrics, linings, pleat styles, decorative hardware, and finishing details that complement the scale and character of your room. In the Dallas climate, appropriate lining can also help protect furnishings and flooring from strong sunlight while improving privacy and comfort. Drapery can be used alone or layered with shades, blinds, or sheers to provide greater control over light throughout the day.

Top Treatments

A beautifully designed top treatment can add the finishing touch to a window while introducing architectural interest, pattern, or color. Cornices, valances, and other custom designs can conceal hardware, enhance the proportions of a window, or bring together fabrics and colors used elsewhere in the room.

Top treatments may be tailored and understated or decorative and dramatic depending on the interior. Our designers consider the height and scale of the room, the architecture of the window, and any accompanying drapery or shades to create a treatment that feels balanced and intentional.

Roman Shades

Roman shades combine the softness of fabric with the clean functionality of a shade, making them an elegant choice for both traditional and contemporary interiors. When raised, the fabric forms graceful folds; when lowered, it creates a beautifully tailored treatment with excellent privacy and light control.

With an extensive selection of fabrics, colors, patterns, trims, and operating options available, Roman shades can be customized to suit almost any room. They are particularly effective where homeowners want the warmth of fabric without the volume of full-length drapery and can also be layered with decorative panels for a more luxurious finished look.

Sheer Shades

Sheer shades offer a sophisticated way to soften natural light while maintaining an airy, elegant appearance. Combining sheer fabric with adjustable vanes, they allow you to transition easily between filtered daylight and increased privacy.

They are particularly appealing in living rooms, dining rooms, and other spaces where homeowners want to enjoy natural light without the harshness of direct Dallas sun. Their understated appearance complements a wide range of interior styles and can create a beautifully finished window without visually overpowering the room.

Woven Wood Shades

Woven wood shades introduce organic texture and relaxed sophistication to an interior. Crafted from natural materials such as grasses, reeds, bamboo, and woods, they bring warmth and character to the window while providing an appealing contrast to smooth fabrics and polished finishes elsewhere in the room.

Depending on the material and weave, woven shades can gently filter daylight or be paired with a privacy or blackout lining for greater light control. They work beautifully in Dallas homes where natural materials and indoor/outdoor influences are part of the design and can be layered with drapery for additional softness and depth.

Blinds

Custom blinds offer practical, precise control over light and privacy while providing a clean, tailored appearance. Adjustable slats make it easy to redirect Dallas sunshine, reduce glare, or maintain privacy without completely blocking natural light.

Available in a variety of materials, finishes, colors, and slat sizes, blinds can be selected to complement everything from sleek contemporary interiors to relaxed traditional homes. Our designers consider both aesthetics and performance, helping you choose a solution that works beautifully with your furnishings, flooring, cabinetry, and overall color palette.

Solar Shades

With the strength of the Texas sun, solar shades can be an invaluable addition to Dallas homes. Their specialized fabrics are designed to reduce glare and solar heat gain while helping protect furniture, flooring, artwork, and fabrics from damaging UV exposure.

Different openness levels allow you to determine how much sunlight and view you wish to retain, making solar shades especially useful for rooms with large windows or significant western exposure. Their streamlined appearance works particularly well in contemporary interiors, and they can also be combined with decorative window treatments when additional privacy or softness is desired.

Shutters

Interior shutters offer timeless architectural appeal along with exceptional control over privacy and sunlight. Their adjustable louvers make it easy to manage the strong Texas sun while retaining natural light and views when desired.

Custom-made to fit the individual window, shutters provide a substantial, built-in appearance that complements many styles of architecture. They are durable, easy to maintain, and particularly effective in spaces where homeowners prefer a clean window treatment with minimal fabric. Our designers will help determine the appropriate louver size, finish, and configuration for both the window and the surrounding room.

Vertical Shades

Expansive windows, sliding glass doors, and other wide openings require treatments specifically designed for their scale and operation. Today’s vertical window treatments offer far more sophisticated possibilities than traditional vertical blinds, with options that provide softness, texture, and excellent functionality.

SPRUCED can help you select a treatment that moves easily across a large opening while providing the appropriate level of privacy, glare reduction, and light control. These solutions are particularly valuable in open-plan Dallas homes where large expanses of glass connect interior living areas with patios and outdoor spaces.

Outdoor Living

Outdoor living is an important part of the North Texas lifestyle, and thoughtfully selected window treatments can help create a more comfortable transition between interior and exterior spaces. Patios, covered terraces, outdoor kitchens, and entertaining areas can benefit from treatments designed to manage sunlight, glare, and privacy.

Exterior-rated shades and durable outdoor fabrics can make these spaces more comfortable while maintaining the design aesthetic established inside the home. Our designers can coordinate indoor and outdoor materials and colors, helping the spaces feel visually connected and creating a natural extension of your home’s living areas.

Challenging Windows

Arches, unusually shaped windows, soaring two-story glass, corner windows, and other architectural features can be beautiful—but finding the right window treatment requires expertise and careful planning.

Rather than allowing a difficult window to dictate the design, the SPRUCED team looks at its proportions, location, sunlight exposure, privacy requirements, and relationship to the surrounding architecture. Custom solutions can address even unusual configurations while preserving the feature that makes the window special. From specialty shapes to exceptionally large or high windows, we create treatments that balance beauty, practicality, and architectural integrity.

Motorized Window Treatments

Motorization combines sophisticated design with effortless convenience. With the touch of a button, remote, wall control, or compatible smart-home system, shades and other treatments can be adjusted without manually operating each window.

Motorized treatments are particularly valuable for tall, hard-to-reach, or expansive windows and for rooms containing multiple shades. They can also help manage Dallas heat and sunlight by allowing treatments to be adjusted throughout the day. With no visible operating cords, motorization provides a clean appearance and is an excellent consideration for homes with children or pets.

Designed Specifically for Your Texas Home

No two homes—or windows—are exactly alike. Working with SPRUCED means your window treatments are selected as part of a complete design vision rather than as an afterthought.
