Waiting for the Books & Music

In this interior design project the current built-in didn’t align with the client’s lifestyle or daily routines. Alongside a new built-in design, they sought a functional layout conducive to family interactions and gatherings (sans TV.) While ensuring comfort remained a priority, the client wanted to use this space as their reading and music room.

Location: Dallas, TX

Designer Credits: Kayla Anderson

Project Overview:

Kayla crafted a custom built-in design tailored to the client’s passion for reading and they are looking forward to showcasing their books and music equipment, fostering enjoyable family music sessions.

Kayla opted for a paint color that transformed the dark wood tone into a light hue, as per the client’s preference, illuminating the space. A layout featuring a large sectional and accent chair provided ample comfort for the family of four.

Gray and white tones, coupled with a new chandelier, further enhanced the brightness and introduced a transitional design aesthetic. To eliminate the dull yellow hue on the fireplace and complete the gray and white color scheme, we applied a whitewashing technique, adding the final touch to the space.
